Treating AutoImmune Disorders

Autoimmune diseases are a group of disorders in which the immune system
attacks the body and destroys or alters tissues. There are more than eighty
serious chronic illnesses in this category including rheumatoid arthritis,
type 1 diabetes, lupus, thyroid disease, infl ammatory bowel disease,
Addison’s disease, pernicious anemia, celiac disease, multiple sclerosis,
myasthenia gravis and Guillain–Barré syndrome. According to the American
Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) twenty percent of
the population suff ers from autoimmune disorders. Each disease appears
uncommon on an individual basis but, as a group, the disorders make up
the fourth-largest cause of disability among women.
Due to the complexity of treating autoimmune disorders, integrative
medicine solutions including acupuncture and Oriental medicine have
received much attention as successful therapies in their treatment
particularly for use in providing pain relief, regulating the immune system,

Acupuncture Plays An
Essential Role In IVF Success

Paul Magarelli, M.D., Ph.D., an infertility physician at the Reproductive Medicine & Fertility Center, and Diane Cridennda, L.Ac., an acupuncturist at East Winds, both centers in Colorado Springs, Colo., published their evidence of acupuncture’s demonstrable role in successful vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes in the journal Infertility and Sterility.
In the study, they used a minimum of nine acupuncture treatments within two months before the embryo transfer. Since this was a research study, each patient received the same treatment.

Alters Immune Response

study suggests.
In a small-scale study, the blood of
29 people who received 45-minute
Swedish massages was tested five
minutes and one minute before the
massage began, then one, five, 10, 15,
30 and 60 minutes after the massage,
using intravenous catheters.
